Email and Groupware Email Server
An overview of available email servers and their use
The Heidelberg University Computing Centre operates different email servers to cater to the varying needs of the users.
- Incoming mail server (IMAP)
- Exchange
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
Possible email addresses
Here is a list of the possible email addresses that you can receive from the URZ or from your institute:

Incoming mail server (IMAP): Settings
Username: Uni ID
Mailboxes are created on the imap.urz.uni-heidelberg.de server by default.
You can access your mailbox both with an email client and by using a web interface. Alongside email access, it provides an address book and a calendar function. All functions are also available via Active Sync. The necessary data for the different servers can be found in the following table:

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Settings
Please notice: For security reasons, sending emails via the university's outgoing mail server mail.urz.uni-heidelberg.de is currently only possible from end devices within Germany (in the area of the top-level domain "DE") or with a VPN connection to Germany (e.g. to the university VPN server).
