By sharing research data, scientists can benefit from the opportunity to use pre-existing data sets, thereby boosting the efficiency of overall scientific progress. Data exchange creates greater transparency and can be regarded as a quality control measure. It facilitates new collaborations, promotes interdisciplinary and international cooperation and ultimately increases gains in scientific knowledge. All these aspects are conducive to good scientific practice and ensure the high quality standards of our research.
