12 May 2021 - Support IT Service now offering video call consultations

From 17 May 2021, you can contact the URZ IT Service for consultations via video call. You can get help with IT questions and problems directly on your computer or mobile device via a simple link.

This new video conferencing support service is available and easily reachable starting on 17 May 2021 from:

  • Monday-Thursday: 09:00-11:00 and 13:00-15:00
  • Friday: 09:00-11:00

Simply click on the link on the right, which will take you to the heiCONF room "IT Service Infozentrum".

First, you will be put in a waiting room. As soon as one of our associates is free, you will be admitted to a room and can start your consultation. A strictly chat-based consultation is also possible. The consultations take place via the University’s own video conferencing service heiCONF. Therefore, your data and chat messages are secure, remain on the University servers and will not be stored beyond the conversation.

More personal assistance from a distance

Due to recent semesters being held digitally, many students are not currently in Heidelberg, and many University employees are working from home. This new service offers users the possibility to receive more personal assistance even when you cannot be at the University. In addition, a video call can provide services that would otherwise require a personal appearance at an IT Service Point, for example, because the service requires identification confirmation (e.g. setting a new password).

Available as usual by telephone or email

The IT Service will also continue to be available via the usual channels - by telephone, contact form, email and in person at two IT Service Points. You can find more information about all the ways to contact the IT Service on the IT Service Portal homepage (DE).
