Statistical assessment and analysis of data
IBM® SPSS® Statistics is a program for the statistical assessment and analysis of data. SPSS is easy to use and is suitable for small analyses as well as larger, routine analyses. Programs can be developed for complex analyses in a separate syntax window.
IBM® SPSS® Amos is a software for structural equation modeling (SEM). Amos can be used to extend standard multivariate analysis methods such as regression, factor analysis, correlation and analysis of variance.
The university holds a central license agreement and can issue rental licenses to members of the university within this framework. The available IBM Statistics Premium Campus Edition includes both IBM SPSS Statistics and IBM SPSS Amos.

Access and requirements
The license is currently valid from 01.10. of one year until 30.09. of the next year. After that, a new license must be purchased through the URZ if required. The price for an annual rental license remains the same regardless of when the order is placed.
Important information: Due to internal processes on the part of IBM or the trading partner, the licenses regularly arrive with a delay of approx. 10 days at the beginning of the new license period in October. Thanks to the so-called grace period, the software can always be used in full until the end of October, only a warning appears that the license is expiring or has expired.
Single-user licences are offered via the URZ. Please take a look at the details of the ordering process for students or staff and members to see which steps are necessary to complete an order or purchase.
Network licences can be obtained through the URZ exclusively by employees and members of Heidelberg University. The order form can be found here on the right. Please refer to the form for all further details.
Order process for students of Heidelberg University:
Students at Heidelberg University have the opportunity to purchase licences directly on site at the URZ. Licences can only be purchased using the CampusCard + Student ID. Please ensure you have sufficient credit in advance (cost of the licence 45,- Euro). Please purchase your licence in person or contact spss@urz.uni-heidelberg.de in advance.
Licences can be obtained from 16.10.2023:
Mon. - Fri. between 10:00 and 14:00 at the University Computing Centre (Im Neuenheimer Feld 330, Room Z 04)
and from 23.10.2023 also:
Mon. - Fri. between 14:30 and 16:00 at the Service Point of the University Computing Centre (Im Neuenheimer Feld 330, Room E11).
Order process for employees and members of Heidelberg University:
Employees and members of Heidelberg University have the option of ordering licences via an order form or internal billing. Please fill out this order form and send it to the address given in the form. You will then receive your licence key.
Software download:
You can obtain the SPSS software and its updates via the link on the right. To access the downloads page, you need to log in with your Uni ID and password. The download is also password protected. You will receive the password after completing your order.
Further information:
Single-user licences authorise simultaneous installation of the software on a computer at the workplace and at home or on a notebook (home-use option). With the network licence, the number of simultaneous accesses is counted and limited.
Software updates, so-called fixpacks, are available via a password-protected downloads page. A prior order of the software is necessary to gain access. When downloading, please ensure that you have the correct programme and operating system version.
To test the functionality of SPSS before a possible purchase, a trial version can be downloaded from the manufacturer.
Cost
The licenses run from 01.10. to 30.09. of the following year. A license must always be rented for the entire remaining term and paid for in advance. Please refer to the order form for the costs.
Technical information
The available IBM Statistics Premium Campus Edition contains both IBM SPSS Statistics and IBM SPSS Amos. IBM SPSS Statistics Premium is available for Windows, macOS and Linux (under Linux only SPSS version 27). Amos can only be used with Windows.

Why can't I continue using the trial version (version 25 or newer) with my purchase license? | Starting with version 25, the trial version is a test version of the subscription license, not the purchase license, and can therefore only be used with a subscription license. This means that after acquiring a purchase license, you will have to download and install the client again via the downloads page. |
