Home drives for shared workstation computers and PC Pool computers
Our service heiVOL provides network-based home drives. These are primarily used for central storage of personal files on PC Pool computers or workstations that are used by multiple people. The standard storage capacity is 10 GB per home drive.
Home drives are located at the following address (CIFS-Share): \\heivol-u.ad.uni-heidelberg.de\home\<Uni ID initials>\<Uni ID>
Note: At this time, home drives are no longer automatically created. We recommend our cloud storage service heiBOX for storing personal data.

- Members and associates of the University (with a Uni ID or project number)

- Access to personal data on computers used my multiple people

Access and requirements
Currently, home drives are not being automatically created. Under special circumstances, the installation of a home drive can be requested from the IT Service by providing one's Uni ID.
When using appropriately configured PCs (workstations with multiple users or PC Pool computers), the home drive is usually automatically integrated. Otherwise you can access a home drive at one of the following addresses:
- Windows: \\heivol-u.ad.uni-heidelberg.de\home\<Uni ID initials>\<Uni ID>
- MacOS und Linux: smb://heivol-u.ad.uni-heidelberg.de/home/<Uni ID initials>\<Uni ID>
