How-to Set up the standard email account in Android
This guide describes how you can set up the standard email account in Android.
1. Go into the settings of your device and choose “Accounts and backup”.
2. Tap on "Manage accounts".
3. Select "Add account".
4. Select “Email”.
5. Tap on “Other”.
6. Type in your email address
- Students: <name/uniid>[at]stud.uni-heidelberg.de;
- Employees: <name/id>[at]uni-heidelberg.de
and corresponding password.
7. Tap on “Manual setup”.
8. Select “IMAP account” as the account type.
9. Enter your university email address and password. Enter your Uni ID as your user name.
10. Enter the following data under "Incoming server":
- IMAP Server: imap.urz.uni-heidelberg.de
- Security type: (STARTTLS) (or TLS in case (STARTTLS) isn't shown as an option)
- Port: 143 or 993 (for TLS)
11. Enter the following information under "Outgoing server":
- SMTP Server: mail.urz.uni-heidelberg.de
- Security type: (STARTTLS) (or TLS in case (STARTTLS) isn't shown as an option)
- Port: 587 or 465 (for TLS)
12. Tap on “Sign in”.
